Do not eat Red sauces
Avoid high-acid foods
Do not drink coffees and sodas
Avoid citrus fruits and tomatoes
Do not consume alcoholic beverages

How to Take Prevacid:

Only take this drug as directed to by your doctor or your pharmacist. Make sure that you take each dose with a glass of water. Avoid crushing or chewing the pills, they are coated with a time-release coating to slowly release in the system. If you miss a dose take it at the first chance that you get, and keep taking your other doses on schedule.

How Does Prevacid Work?

Prevacid is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works to reduce the amounts of acids and other digestive juices that are created by the stomach. When these acids are reduced they will not build up to the point of overflowing into the lower valve of the esophagus, which is what causes acid reflux and heartburn.

Side Effects Prevacid Include:

There are some potential side effects that you may experience when taking Prevacid, they include the following:

Diarrhea
Nausea
Abdominal pain
Dizziness
Headache
In rare cases an allergic reaction can occur which may involve the following symptoms: swelling of the lips, tongue or face, closing of the throat and hives. If you experience any of these rare yet dangerous allergic reactions - STOP taking Prevacid and seek immediate medical treatment

Prevacid Precautions:

Always make sure that you tell your doctor about all of the drugs that you are currently taking in order to avoid any drug interactions from occurring. Make sure you let your doctor know if you are taking any of the following drugs: (Nizoral), ampicillin (Omnipen, Principen), digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps), and iron (Feosol, Mol-Iron, Fergon, and Femiron), as they may have reduced effectiveness when taken with this drug. Some people may not be able to take this drug including: women who are pregnant or who are nursing and those who currently suffer from liver disease.
