Famvir Overview – Cold Sores, Genital Herpes, and Shingles Medication

Famvir (famciclovir) is an antiviral prescription medication. It is used to treat patients who are suffering from outbreaks of the herpes simplex virus, including genital herpes, herpes zoster (cold sores) and shingles. Famvir Precautions:

There are some people who may not be able to take Famvir including: those who currently suffer from kidney disease; women who are pregnant or who are currently nursing; and those who are taking medicines that contain the drug Probenecid (Benemid).
